WWF Alberoni Nature Reserve: the wildest side of Venice Lido

15/07/2026

Among the most unique experiences on Venice Lido is the WWF Alberoni Nature Reserve, a protected natural area located at the southern end of the island and covering around 160 hectares.

It is a place where the landscape completely changes compared to the more central areas of the Lido: here, nature takes centre stage and the environment preserves a rare balance between sea, dunes, and vegetation.

The sandy dunes are constantly shaped by natural processes, sculpted by wind and sea, while the coastal pine forest offers paths surrounded by greenery, perfect for peaceful walks and moments immersed in nature.

Alberoni Beach is also one of the wildest beaches on the Lido, less urbanised and more authentic, with a delicate ecosystem that is home to several protected species, including the Kentish plover.

This combination makes Alberoni one of the most fascinating experiences in the entire Venetian Lagoon: not simply a beach, but a true natural environment where land and sea meet in a spontaneous and harmonious way.

From Russo Palace Hotel on Venice Lido, it is easy to organise a visit to Alberoni, perhaps combining a day between the sea and nature with an itinerary discovering the most authentic side of the island.
